Jim Boyds Flooring America - Carpet retailer's deceptive practices and lies

Re: Jim Boyd's Flooring America

A person would know the make and model of a car they ordered, it is safe to assume that most people do not know carpet manufacturer’s designated names for each of their carpet brands.

We chose a particular carpet and said this is what we want. We were quoted a price. The salesman wrote on his order form as shown on the document included here Riverfest. We believe, that like most people, we were safe in assuming that what he wrote was the carpet we chose. We were not aware of such alternatives as Riverfest II or Riverfest Plus, etc. Although it’s buyer beware, this was a normal assumption and we saw no reason to double-check.

What this was tantamount to was some kind of ‘bait and switch’ because what we received was not what we chose. Additionally, we would never have chosen this relatively poor grade and especially at this price.

Also, while we are aware that it is what is written is binding as opposed to oral representations, their salesman Bill Gould looked my wife and I in the eye and said to us that if we were not satisfied, we had 30 days during which time they would replace the carpet or remove it and refund our investment. This is why we did not shop further and when we left we discussed that this was certainly a reason to feel peace of mind.

When we told the manager Larry Hunt about this, he denied any knowledge of such a policy and said he would discuss it with the salesman. There has never been any follow-up regarding that discussion.

We, therefore, feel there is reason to believe that despite any of their self-serving protestations, Jim Boyd’s Flooring America engages in lies, deception and misrepresentation. The public needs to be and should be warned.

Bottom line: They did not write up and deliver the carpet we ordered and lied about their policies.

The customers came into our business looking for carpet. They were shown both Riverfest and Riverfest Plus products with 8lb. 3/8" padding. After being presented pricing on both products, they chose and signed for the Riverfest product.

After we installed their product, they complained about the thickness and feel of the carpet and pad when walking on it.

It is unfortunate that they feel this way. In order to accommodate, and in the spirit of satisfying our customer, we suggested we take up the existing carpet and install the Riverfest Plus product. We offered to cover the charge of the labor. All the customer would be responsible for is the difference in the cost of the two carpets.

They rejected this offer which does not seem reasonable to us, but that is their decision.

I setup an appointment with the contractor.I followed up on that day of appointment and the estimator assured me he was coming shortly but never did.

2 hours passed so I decided to call again and the estimator had said he just stepped out of the "shower" and will not be able to stop by. I was furious since I had to *** the day for this appointment so I called the Jim Boyd's office and the response was chuckles and could care less attitude. The owner Jim Boyd could care less.

His attitude is that we don't need your business.Take your business some where else
